Walls and floors are rarely perfectly straight, especially in older properties. That’s why we always recommend measuring each dimension in 2–3 different places.
For example:
- Measure the width at the top, middle, and bottom
- Measure the height on both the left and right sides
This helps identify any slight variations and ensures your design accounts for them from the start.
Don’t Forget Obstacles and Features
Every space has its quirks—and these details matter.
Make a note of anything that could affect your furniture, such as:
- Chimney breasts
- Alcoves
- Skirting boards
- Sloping ceilings
